Rules

Team Composition

  • Each team must have a minimum of one (1) member and may have a maximum of (6) members

  • You may participate as a team of one (1) member

    • NO grace periods nor points are allotted for teams of one member

    • One member teams must be present in the Discord server

  • You may only work with one team at any given point of the competition

    • Joining two or more teams for the same round is against the rules

    • Collaborating with other teams is prohibited

    • Teams may “merge” (join together) if there is no more than six (6) total members

      • Merged teams will default to one team name

      • Merged teams will suspend all individual team activities and only work together for the remainder of their time in the competition

    • Failure to adhere to this rule is grounds for automatic disqualification for the member and potentially for ALL groups involved

    • Members may transfer to another group if they receive an approval from a judge and fill out the member transfer form

  • Star Systems (Team Names) must be PG-13

    • Aliases must be PG-13

  • Groups must have one contact member in the UTAPlanet: 22 Discord Server

  • All members must have a valid social media link to sign up

    • YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, SoundCloud, Discord, NND, etc.

  • Groups are based on headcount. Members taking up multiple roles do not take up multiple member slots

  • Groups are allowed to make changes to their group until final entries are submitted

    • Members may remain anonymous to competition, but not the judges

  • Judges and hosts are not allowed to participate in competing groups

Cover Submission Guidelines

  • All entry submissions are done through direct messaging one of the event hosts.

  • YOU MUST submit the following:

    • A YouTube link

    • Alternative / Mirror streaming link

    • MP3 Links (audio)

  • Videos must include 【UTP-R(#)】somewhere in the title

    • 【UTP-R(1)】 Love Whisper 【Star System Name】

  • Proper crediting must be written down in the description

    • Star Systems MUST include proper names, titles, and up-to-date links where applicable

    • Failure to include credits will lead to the holding of your entry prior to disqualification

  • Entries must be on YouTube for the duration of the judging phase

Song Submission Guidelines

  • Each submission must have a minimum 2:30 minutes of audio and video

  • Submissions may not be over 6:00 minutes

  • Each entry must use the UTAU assigned to the team

    • Failure to do so is grounds for disqualification

  • Submissions may use ANY UTAU from the designated UTAU pool, so long as the assigned UTAU occupies a majority of the line distribution

    • Teams may use up to 12 UTAU

    • If there are three UTAU, the assigned UTAU must take up 33% or more of the vocal track

      • Four UTAU - 25% or more, so on and so forth

  • Submissions may be in any language unless stated in the round announcement

  • Songs from all genres are allowed

    • Producers who do NOT allow covers of their songs are not allowed to be entered

      • Failure to comply will result in automatic disqualification

    • UTPlanet: 22 is not responsible for retrieving entries taken down by copyright nor getting the entries back up

  • Ad-libs and harmonies are welcomed

  • Original song arrangements / remixes and mashups are allowed

  • ALL submissions must have a UST created from scratch

    • Failure to submit a new UST will lead to serious point deductions (½ removal of total points) or disqualification

  • Only the primary Tuning judge must submit critique on tuning if asked

  • Only the primary Mixing judge must submit critique on mixing if asked

  • Songs with R-18 ratings are allowed with proper content warnings

Art and Video Guidelines

  • Videos may process during the entry submission as long a valid YouTube link is available

  • Art must follow the UTAU character’s Terms of Use

    • Failure to meet Terms of Use will result in automatic disqualification

  • Art must not be traced

    • Traced art is grounds for automatic disqualification

  • Videos must NOT be plagiarized from any source

    • Plagiarism is grounds for automatic disqualification

  • Heavy referencing in art, video, or both must be credited to properly

  • Art must not break UTAU (software) TOS

  • 66% of all art and assets must be created during the Round period

  • Third party assets (overlays, effects) must be credited as fit

  • The use of 3D animation software like MMD are allowed as long as all assets are:

    • created by the team OR properly credited

    • Not plagiarized nor copy and pasted

    • Does not violate the TOS of the original party owners

  • Only the primary Art judge is required to give art and video critique if asked
